Teach Today for Tomorrow, a foundational English learning program designed for primary government school students in Karnataka is the first educational initiative launched by our organisation. We began in December 2022 with just four committed volunteers and a shared belief: When a child learns to read and express themselves confidently, their future expands.

Laying the Foundation

From December 2022 to April 2023, we focused on understanding before intervening.

During this phase, we:

Conducted baseline assessments to understand students’ English reading and writing abilities
Grouped students according to proficiency levels rather than grade alone
Studied and aligned with the Karnataka State Government English curriculum
Observed classroom realities and identified learning gaps

This thorough groundwork allowed us to build a program rooted in real needs rather than assumptions.

Building Structure and Scale

In April and May 2023, we expanded our team by onboarding and training new volunteers. Together, we:

Designed structured lesson plans
Developed level-based teaching strategies
Created classroom routines and assessment tools
Built a sustainable implementation model

In June 2023, at the beginning of the new academic year, Teach Today for Tomorrow officially launched in a structured and fully operational format.

What We Focus On

Our program supports students from Grades 1 to 5 in developing essential English skills:

Reading with fluency and understanding
Comprehending age-appropriate texts
Writing clear and structured sentences
Speaking English with growing confidence

Beyond language skills, we aim to nurture confidence, participation, and a sense of possibility.

Why It Matters

For many children in government schools, English can feel intimidating and inaccessible. By strengthening foundational literacy skills early, we help students:

Engage more actively in their classrooms
Access textbooks independently
Build academic and social confidence
Expand their future educational and career opportunities

By the end of the academic year in April 2025, we had grown from one school, 57 children and 3 volunteers, to two schools, 110 children and 34 volunteers. The curriculum based English teaching program is currently volunteer-led and we have moved on to help children develop other skills in the English Language.

Adhirrohini Foundation continues to expand Teach Today for Tomorrow to other schools in Karnataka, Assam and Chattisgarh. It is more than an English program. It is a step toward equity, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has the tools to learn, grow, and lead.
